About Yogurt, Greek, plain, whole milk
Greek yogurt is regular yogurt that's been strained to remove much of its watery whey, leaving something thicker, creamier and noticeably tangier. That straining is the whole trick — and the reason it has become such a fixture of high-protein eating.
Removing the whey roughly doubles the protein compared with ordinary yogurt, which makes Greek yogurt unusually filling, alongside calcium, B12 and the live probiotic cultures common to yogurt. This whole-milk version is richer and higher in fat; nonfat versions keep the protein while cutting the calories.
Plain Greek yogurt is endlessly useful — a high-protein breakfast base, a stand-in for sour cream or mayonnaise, or a tangy backbone for dips and marinades. As with all yogurt, the flavored tubs are where the added sugar hides.
