About Tempeh

Tempeh is a firm, dense cake of whole soybeans bound together by an edible culture in a traditional Indonesian fermentation. Nuttier, chewier and more substantial than tofu, it has a savory, almost mushroomy flavor and a texture that crisps and browns beautifully.

Because it's made from whole, fermented soybeans, it's exceptionally high in plant protein — a complete protein with all the essential amino acids — along with fiber, iron, magnesium, B vitamins and the isoflavones of soy. The fermentation also makes its nutrients easier to absorb.

Heartier and higher in protein and fiber than tofu, tempeh is one of the most substantial meat alternatives there is — marinated and pan-fried or crumbled into a stir-fry, it brings real bite to a plant-based plate.
