About Tea, instant, unsweetened, powder, prepared

This is unsweetened instant tea, made by stirring a spoonful of dried tea powder into hot or cold water. With no sugar added it is one of the simplest low-calorie drinks there is — the flavorful, near-zero-calorie counterpart to the sweetened bottled iced teas.

Per 100 grams it has about 1 calorie and essentially no sugar, fat or sodium. What it does carry is caffeine — around 11 milligrams per 100 grams, which works out to roughly 26 milligrams in an 8-ounce cup, a gentle lift well below that of coffee. It also brings the natural antioxidant compounds (polyphenols) found in tea.

Unsweetened tea is an easy swap for sugary drinks: it delivers tea's flavor, light caffeine and antioxidants with virtually no calories. You control the sweetness, so it can stay calorie-free or take just a touch of sugar or lemon. Decaffeinated instant tea is available for anyone limiting caffeine.
