About Raisins, seeded

The grape (Vitis vinifera) is a small, juicy berry that grows in clusters on woody vines, one of the oldest and most widely cultivated fruits in the world, tended since ancient times in the Near East and Mediterranean. It comes in green, red, and deep purple-black varieties, both seeded and seedless, with popular table types like Thompson Seedless, Red Globe, Concord, and the Southern muscadine, alongside the specialized wine grapes grown for the vineyard.

Grapes are sweet and refreshing and supply vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, and antioxidants such as resveratrol concentrated in their skins, all for modest calories. They are eaten fresh by the handful, frozen for a cool snack, tossed into salads and roasted with meats, or dried into raisins, sultanas, and currants, and of course pressed and fermented into the world's wine. Grape juice and jelly are pantry staples too.

Choose plump, firm grapes still attached to green, flexible stems, avoiding any that are shriveled or leaking, and store them unwashed in the refrigerator, rinsing just before serving to keep them at their crisp, sweet best.
