About Chewing gum, sugarless

Chewing gum is a soft, sweetened confection made to be chewed rather than swallowed, built around a flavorless, insoluble gum base blended with sweeteners, softeners, and flavorings. Modern bases are usually food-grade synthetic rubbers, though the original chicle was tapped from the sapodilla tree of Central America. People have chewed tree resins and waxes for thousands of years, but packaged gum took off in the United States in the late 1800s.

Because it is chewed and spat out, the base itself adds almost no calories, and sugar-free versions sweetened with xylitol or sorbitol can actually help protect teeth by boosting saliva and cutting cavity-causing acids. Beyond freshening breath, gum is often used to curb snacking, ease tension, or relieve ear pressure on a flight. Popular styles include stick, pellet, and stretchy bubble gum, in mint, fruit, and cinnamon flavors.

Keep it in a cool, dry place so it stays soft and pliable.
