About Campbell's V8 100% Vegetable Juice
V8 is the well-known Campbell's blend of tomato juice with the juices of seven other vegetables — beets, celery, carrots, lettuce, parsley, watercress and spinach. Savory rather than sweet, it is a long-running way to drink something that genuinely counts toward your vegetable servings, and it is one of the few beverages that can make that claim.
It is light at about 21 calories per 100 grams, with only around 3 grams of natural sugar and a little fiber, plus a real nutritional payoff: it is a good source of vitamin C and vitamin A (from the tomato and carrot), and it carries lycopene, the red tomato antioxidant. The catch is sodium — at roughly 173 milligrams per 100 grams it is salted, so an 8-ounce glass carries around 415 milligrams of sodium.
That salt is the one thing to watch, and it is exactly why a low-sodium V8 exists, delivering the same vitamins and lycopene with a fraction of the sodium. For most people the regular version is still a smart, low-calorie way to add vegetables to the day; anyone managing blood pressure may prefer the low-sodium one.
